Start a photography project in Vancouver
Tell me about the space, the design and your timeline — I read every enquiry personally and reply within a day.
Travis Zhang is a Vancouver-based architectural, interior and hospitality photographer working with architects, interior designers, hotels and premium brands across British Columbia. Whether you are documenting a finished interior for your portfolio, preparing a hospitality launch, or building a press and awards submission, the best place to begin is a short, specific note about the project.
The more you share at the outset, the sharper my response. A few lines on the space, the story behind the design, your timeline and how the images will be used lets me come back with a clear plan and an accurate quote rather than a generic reply. Interior photography in Vancouver is the core of my practice, and every project is scoped individually — so the first exchange is really about understanding what the work needs to do for you and your client.
How to start a photography project in Vancouver
The simplest way to begin is to email [email protected] with a short outline of what you have in mind. There is no form to fill in and no obligation — a paragraph is plenty to get the conversation moving.
From there, I'll usually reply within a day to ask any follow-up questions, talk through approach and light, and confirm scope. Once we're aligned, I provide a written quote and we lock a shoot date. If a walk-through or a quick call would help — especially for larger architecture or hospitality projects — we can arrange that before anything is booked.
What to include in your enquiry
You don't need a formal brief to reach out, but a few details help me give you a precise answer quickly. Where you can, please mention:
- The space — what it is (a residence, restaurant, hotel, office, multi-unit development), its size, and roughly how many rooms or areas you want photographed.
- The design story — what makes it worth shooting: the materials, the concept, the moments you most want to see in the final images.
- Timeline — when the space will be styled and ready, and any deadline tied to a launch, press feature or awards submission.
- Deliverables — how many final images you expect and where they'll appear: website, print, social, a developer's marketing, or a magazine.
- Location and access — where the space is, and anything I should know about access, occupancy or scheduling.
This is also where we'll talk through licensing. Projects are quoted based on scope, access, styling, deliverables and how the images will be licensed, so these details shape the estimate directly.
Service area — Vancouver, Metro Vancouver and beyond
I'm based in Vancouver and work regularly with interior designers, architects and hospitality clients throughout Metro Vancouver — from downtown and the West Side to Burnaby, Richmond, North and West Vancouver, and the wider Lower Mainland. Interior photography in Vancouver is the core of my practice, and most projects sit within a comfortable drive of the city.
For projects elsewhere in British Columbia, or further afield, travel is straightforward to arrange and factored into the quote. With more than two decades of work across 33 countries, location is rarely the constraint — what matters is giving the space the time and care it deserves. If you're a Vancouver interior designer or a developer with a property outside the city, do get in touch and we'll sort out the logistics.

[email protected]Frequently asked questions
How do I get a quote for interior or architecture photography in Vancouver?
Email [email protected] with a short description of the space, your timeline and how you plan to use the images. I don't publish fixed prices because every project differs — quotes are based on scope, access, styling, the number of deliverables and licensing. With those details I can usually send an accurate estimate within a day.
How far in advance should I book?
For a single interior, a week or two of notice is often enough. For larger architecture or hospitality projects — or shoots tied to a launch, press deadline or awards submission — it's best to reach out as early as you can, ideally once you know roughly when the space will be styled and ready. Earlier contact gives us more flexibility on dates and light.
Do you photograph projects outside Vancouver?
Yes. Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland are home base, but I regularly work across British Columbia and have photographed in 33 countries over my career. Travel beyond Metro Vancouver is simple to arrange and is included transparently in your quote.
What information helps you respond fastest?
The space and its size, the design story you want to tell, your timeline, the deliverables you need and the location. Even a rough version of each lets me reply with a real plan and quote rather than a list of follow-up questions, which saves us both time.
Who do you usually work with?
Architects, interior designers, hotels, restaurants, developers and premium brands across British Columbia. Whether you're a Vancouver interior designer building a portfolio or a developer marketing a new property, the process starts the same way — a short email about the project.
